About SNAC
Q: What is SNAC?
A: The Southern Nevada Arts Coalition (SNAC) is a nonprofit Local Arts Agency dedicated to arts advocacy, arts funding, supporting local artists, and strengthening the cultural landscape of Southern Nevada.
Q: Why was SNAC created?
A: SNAC was founded to address the lack of dedicated arts funding in Southern Nevada. While the Nevada Arts Council serves all of Nevada, SNAC focuses on Clark County and the Las Vegas Valley, ensuring local artists receive the financial and legislative support they need.
Q: What is SNAC’s mission?
A: Southern Nevada Arts Coalition empowers and sustains Southern Nevada through the arts.
Q: What is a Local Arts Agency (LAA)?
A: According to Americans for the Arts… “The nation’s 4,500 Local Arts Agencies (LAAs) promote, support, and develop the arts at the local level ensuring a vital presence for the arts throughout America’s communities. LAAs are diverse in their makeup—they have many different names and embrace a spectrum of artistic disciplines. But each LAA, in its own way, works to sustain the health and vitality of the arts and artists locally, while also striving to make the arts accessible to all members of a community. Each LAA in America is unique to the community that it serves and each evolves within its community—no two LAAs are exactly alike in name, programming or even mission. Below is information to help you learn more about LAAs so that you can identify the LAAs that serve your community.”
Currently, Clark County has four LAAs: City of Henderson Arts Council, Clark County Art Committee, City of Las Vegas Office of Cultural Affairs and Moapa Valley Performing Arts Council. However, none of these groups offer grants to the community. That’s where SNAC will fill the need.

Legislative Advocacy
Q: What are SNAC’s current arts advocacy initiatives?
A: SNAC is supporting AB 219 in the 2025 Nevada State Legislative Session, advocating for the reallocation of 1% of the collected Live Entertainment Tax (LET) to the Nevada Arts Council. 97% of LET funds are generated in Southern Nevada. Currently, less than 1% makes its way back down to support Southern Nevada artists. If passed, AB 219 could support additional grant funding and grant writing workshops for Southern Nevada artists.
Q: What is AB 219?
A: AB 219 is a bill introduced by Nevada State Assemblyman Howard Watts (District 15) and co-sponsored by Senator Fabian Doñate (District 10) that reallocates one percent of the Live Entertainment Tax to the Nevada Arts Council. The Live Entertainment Tax is generated in large part through the labor of Nevada’s creative workforce. As our state arts agency, Nevada Arts Council's role is to support artists and arts organizations so that we can best serve and provide artistic opportunities to our local and regional communities. In 2015 , the Nevada Arts Council secured an annual allocation of $150,000 from the LET funds for agency initiatives and programs. Through AB 219, there would be an additional allocation to the Nevada Arts Council- 1% of the LET, approximately $900,000 annually. The arts funding AB 219 would provide is essential as it would allow Nevada to build our cultural and creative infrastructure across the state to grow our creative economy. Moreover, AB219 will allow Nevada to create statewide coalitions of arts and culture organizations, from urban to rural communities, by providing more timely and robust funding. Read the bill here.
Q: What exactly is Live Entertainment Tax?
A: In 2003, the Nevada Legislature passed NRS 368A which adopted a statewide tax that businesses would incur. If tickets were sold for a performance, LET would be added on top of the ticket price or included. The business is then required to remit payment to the state. The current rate of LET is 9%. More information about LET can be found here. SNAC is advocating to reallocate 1% of the total collected from LET to be reinvested directly into local arts programs, grants, and cultural initiatives in Nevada through the Nevada Arts Council.
